• Haemostatic Dressings: Chitosan and cellulose-based dressings that accelerate clot formation on contact with blood. Used for moderate to severe bleeding where direct pressure alone is insufficient. Training and Deployment

First responder equipment should only be used by personnel trained in its application. Incorrect tourniquet use, haemostatic dressing application, or chest seal placement can cause additional harm. Employers deploying this equipment should ensure appointed first aiders receive appropriate catastrophic bleeding and trauma training from a recognised provider. Public access bleed control kits should be accompanied by clear instructional signage.
